Tutoring now offered on Fridays!! See updated tutorial schedule. Students tab->Tutoring Schedule or click on flyer below. Tutoring offered for the following subjects: Math, ELA, Science, History and general homework help. See Tutoring Scheduling Things To Know: Things to Know: • TARDIES: One of our Fantastic Four beliefs is to “Be there, Be ready!” This means to be in the seat before the bell rings – not running through the door as the bell rings. Timeliness is an important skill that our students need to develop to be college, community, and career ready. • BIKE RIDERS: Reminder---students riding their bikes to school MUST wear a helmet. This is not a Rio Vista rule, it is a California Vehicle Code which carries a $150 fine if the student is stopped by law enforcement. Please make sure that your student wears a bicycle helmet when riding a bike – at all times, not just coming to and going from school. We appreciate your help in enforcing this safety issue. • PE CLOTHING: Students have the option of purchasing PE clothes with the school name/logo. If you prefer not to purchase PE clothes, be sure to provide dress code compliant plain red shorts and plain gray t-shirts for use in your student’s PE class. (PE clothing will be available for purchase thru the PE department.) • STUDENT CHECK-OUT: Reminder---anyone checking out a student must ALWAYS bring their driver’s license, California ID or valid passport with them. If you do not have a proper ID, you will not be able to check a student out. Parent Tip: Keeping Children Safe Parents and caregivers who drive on campus and in neighborhoods near school can play an important role in enhancing safety near schools by following safe driving practices. Dress Code Reminder: • DRESS CODE: Please remember: 1) no leggings or tights may be worn unless they are worn beneath dresses, skirts, skorts, shorts or culottes, 2) excessive wear is not allowed, and 3) no skin nor any undergarments may show. Please keep jeans with excessive wear/excessive fraying for weekend wear. The district dress code guidelines is available on our website for you to review. Students and Parents! Students or Parents should not be bringing food items to give to other students at school! ie : drinks; trays of food , pizza etc. Holiday parties are not allowed in Middle school. Students should refrain from bringing any food or drink items that they alone will not be consuming. Show All News Principal's Message Today is a Great Day to be a Titan! December 23rd – January 10th is Winter Break (NO SCHOOL) School Resumes Monday, January 13th Happy Holidays! Please note that we do not have holiday parties at Rio Vista. We appreciate you NOT sending any baked goods or candy to school. None of us know all of the potential food allergies that students on campus may have. When seen, these items will be held in the office for a parent to pick them up. Dress code remains in force this week, as always. But we will have dress-up days this week. Please encourage your student to participate: • Monday – PJ Monday (Wear your favorite Winter pajamas or cozies. No slippers.) • Tuesday – Light Up the Tree Tuesday (Wear neon, bright colors, or something that lights up!) • Wednesday – Santa vs. the Grinch Wednesday (8th grade wear red and 7th-grade wear green.) • Thursday – Snowflake Thursday (Wear as much white as you can.) • Friday – Holly Jolly Friday (Wear Christmas hats, headbands, socks, and ugly sweaters.) (All attire must conform to the CUSD Dress Code unless otherwise stated.) Fantastic Four: Be There, Be Ready – On Target in 2020 Having goals can keep your middle schooler motivated. Encourage them to pick resolutions that they’ll keep with these suggestions: • Choose carefully. Your tween could set a goal for each area of their life, such as academic (start long term project early), social (avoid gossip), and personal (save allowance). Or, they might name a resolution for each class, such as memorizing ...
